Rescue Operation off Greece

Our operating vessel M/T “GINGA HAWK” (IMO 9222651 / Singapore Flag) was involved in Rescue Operation off the coast of Greece on 1st / 2nd Oct 2022.

The vessel was on her passage from Istanbul, Turkey to Ravenna, Italy, and she received a call from Olympia Radio to proceed for responding to a Distress call received from a Sailing vessel about 42 NM away.

The vessel immediately informed all concerned parties, initiated her emergency response procedures, and moved to the position of Distress. A total of 56 persons including 8 kids were rescued.

Sailing Boat Name: Baccarat

Voyage Details: Izmir, Turkey, bound for Italy

Nature of Distress: The boat crew, including Captain, escaped using inflatable speedboats on experiencing inclement weather. The vessel started rolling/slamming heavily due to the heavy swell, which triggered them to raise the distress alert.

Injury: No one was injured during the rescue operation, and no immediate medical assistance was required.

The vessel contributed to the safe rescuing of 56 lives under the command of Captain.
